Snapshot Biography

Sub Plan: Open the SPICE PPT. We began this on Friday. Have the students take out their SPICE graphic organizer. Go to the slide titled Interactions Between Humans and the Environment and begin from here.
Picture
Discuss the items, define terms, and give the students examples. For example: Location includes states, countries, and continents. Climate can be dry/desert, tropical, humid, or cold. Regions include the Middle East, CA and So Cal, and local includes Inland Empire. Then there will be a slide with the theme's questions to help the students apply it to their lives. Discuss the questions and give possible examples. Next, have the students choose 2 questions to answer in complete sentences to apply in their lives and write them on their SPICE graphic organizer.

Repeat the process until you have completed the PPT. You should have some extra time left at the end of class. Go to Newsmap ( http://newsmap.jp/ ) Select a World story to read (Iraq or Ebola virus). Read the article and discuss it as a class. Ask the students to identify which element(s) of SPICE apply to the article. Repeat with a different article if time permits. *** Period 7 had lengthy discussions on Friday. We are a letter behind. Please begin on the Political description and then proceed with the rest of the PPT. Students are to hold on to their papers- DO NOT collect them. HW: Remind the students that their Snapshot Autobiographies are due on Tuesday. Also, please ask them to have a GMAIL account set up PRIOR to class tomorrow.

Let's Create a e-Portfolio!

Students will be creating their own Weebly site to host their e-portfolio. Here you will host various assignments, mastery projects, and your blog. Below you will find step-by-step instructions on how to create a Weebly website PDF, beginning pages and requirements, and a video on how to complete a blog-post. More detailed information will be forthcoming in the next week or two.
