Welcome to my history classroom. Today you will get to observe my students using nine different tools in a history classroom (Google Docs, Google Slides, HSTRY, Voice Thread, Newsela, Thinglink, Photo Cat, Twitter template, and Big Huge Lab's Magazine Cover). Links and instructions follow as ideas/models for your use. Feel free to take and modify what you like. Group 1: Google Doc for Textual Analysis

Group 2: Google Slides for Collaboration and Sharing of Main Ideas and Supporting Evidence
Working in pairs, complete the slide deck linked above. Make a COPY of the slide deck and share it with your partner. Use your reading notes and handouts to complete the slides. Replace typed italics and chart boxes with your response.

Group 4: Newsela for Current Events and Identification of Central Ideas and Supporting Details
Go to Newsela and log in. Select 3-4 current events to complete. A minimum of tho must be from War & Peace.

Group 5: Thinglink for Annotating Images
Choose an image from below. Copy the image to your Chromebook. Log into Thinglink. Go to CREATE. Upload one of the selected images and annotate the image. Be sure to break down all parts of the image. Go to Photos for Class and select a historical image. Save the image to your Chromebook and repeat the process.

Group 6: Photo Cat for Creating Images & Visual Literacy
Go to Photos for Class and find 3-4 images to create a collage related to totalitarianism or one of our previous units. Download the images. Go to Photo Cat and import the images. and add a heading or caption. Download the image and email/send it to your cell phone. Next, you or partner go to Instagram and upload the image. Give a brief description when you post your image. Include the hash tag #alhswh to receive credit.

Group 7: Big Huge Lab's Magazine Cover For Communicating Main Ideas
Go to Photos for Class. Select an image related to totalitarianism. Save the image to your Chromebook- take NO MORE THAN 6 minutes to do this. Go to Big Huge Lab's Magazine Cover. Upload your image. Come up with a magazine cover and a minimum of Three statements related to totalitarianism and at least two countries.

I have found that it is easiest to collect student work with a Google Form. I create a template and then make a copy and rename it for each class period.
